At Healthy Kids, we believe every child deserves access to safe, enriching, and high-quality care. We proudly partner with Ohio State's child care assistance program to help make our services more affordable to families. Whether your child is just starting out or needs care during the school year or summer, we're here to support you every step of the way.

Is My Family Eligible?

Check the requirements below to see if you qualify

Eligibility Requirements

​

1. Meet Income Requirements: ​

  • Must be at or below 145% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) at the time of application

  • Income must be based on gross monthly household income

​

2. Have a Qualifiying Activity (VERY Important)

   - All care takers in the household must be engaged in an approved activity:

  • Working(full-time or part-time)

  • Attending School or college

  • Participating in Job training

  • Participating in programs like SNAP Employment & Training

​

3. Have an Eligible Child

  • Child Must be:

    • Under age 13, OR​

    • Under age 18 with special needs

​

4. Be an Ohio Resident 

  • The parent/ caretaker must live in Ohio

  • Must apply through the county Job & Family Services office

​

5. Us Citizenship / Legal Status 

  • The child receiving care must be:

    • A U.S. citizen or​

    • A qualified non-citizen

​

6. Household Requirements 

  • Must provide infomration on:

    • Everyone living in the household​

    • Hosehold income and expenses

  • If two parents are in the home:

    • Both parents meet activity requirements or provide proof why one cannot provide care​

7. Use an Approved Provided

  • Child care must be through a:

    • Licensed center​

    • Licensed family child care home

    • Approved in-home aide

Eligibility is redetermined every 12 months and families must recertify annually.

  • Child care provider details

Accepted document types include: PDF, DOC/DOCX, JPEG, or PNG

Certain documents may fulfill more than one requirement.

How to Apply

1. Apply Online (FASTEST option)

Families can apply through:

Ohio Benefits Self-Service Portal

Thorugh this portal, families can:

  • Submit the application

  • Upload documents

  • Track their case status

​

2. Other Ways to Apply

Families can also:

  • Visit their local county JFS office

  • Complete the application with a caseworker

​

✓ By Phone

  • Call their county office for guidance or to start the process

​

✓ By Mail /Email /Fax 

  • Submit a paper application and documents

Are there other Forms of Assistance?

WDI's Child Care Scholarship Program

Scholarship funding for qualified families ineligible for their local County Child Care Assistance Program funding. This scholarship has much higher income eligibility levels. For example, a family of four: “over-income” for child care financial assistance at $108,631, you can now have a gross income of up to $124,800 and be eligible for this scholarship.

Child Care Aware® of America

Delivers in partnership with the United States Military and Department of Defense to serve and support their families through Fee Assistance and Respite Child Care Programs. Healthy Kids is a registered provider with Child Care Aware at a variety of our locations.

Westchester Works Scholarship

For our Westchester families, this scholarship has much higher income eligibility levels. A family of two "over income" for child care assistance through CCAP can have a gross income of $102,000 and be eligible for the Westchester Works Child Care Scholarship Program.
