For over 17 years, we’ve partnered with schools across the country to provide enriching, safe, and affordable before and after school care—and we’re honored to now support families in the Birmingham City School District.

REGISTRATION
Healthy Kids uses the Family App, Playground for enrollment, billing, and communication. Registering in Playground is easy! Follow these simple steps to get started:
Step 1: Create your Playground account.
Step 2: Complete the enrollment form and pay your registration fee if applicable. *Don’t forget to enter a discount code if you have one!
Step 3: Keep an eye out for any additional paperwork in the Playground Parent Portal. Children with allergies, emergency medication, or a health need will need additional forms completed by a doctor.
Step 4: Once all paperwork is submitted and reviewed, you’ll receive a confirmation email with important details and information about your first invoice.
PRICING & PAYMENTS
TUITION ASSISTANCE:
We are excited to share that we are currently working on the process to accept state tuition assistance at this location. Our goal is to make our programs more accessible to all families by offering additional support options. We appreciate your patience during this transition and will provide updates as soon as we are approved to accept subsidy payments. If you have any questions in the meantime, please feel free to contact us!
REGISTRATION FEE:
$10 per child
Current BCS after school program students will not need to pay another registration fee
WEEKLY AFTER SCHOOL TUITION:
$55 a week for the first child
$35 for the second child
$25 for each additional child
ADDITIONAL FEES:
3% + $0.30 Monthly Processing Fee for credit/debit cards

Why is the after-school program changing providers?
Birmingham City Schools has partnered with Healthy Kids Programs to enhance the quality, resources, and consistency of after-school care for your child.
Do I have to re-register if my child is currently attending the BCS after-school program?
All current and new families will need to create an account in our family platform, Playground, and complete a short enrollment process. If your child has allergies, emergency medication, or another health need, additional forms will be required.
Will my child’s current after-school staff change?
Many staff members will remain, and Healthy Kids will provide additional training and resources to support them.
Will snacks and meals still be provided?
Yes. Nutritious snacks will continue to be offered as part of the program.
How do I pay my tuition?
We utilize a family-friendly software app called Playground for our billing. Upon registration, you will be asked to link a method of payment on your account and enroll in automatic billing. You must link a credit or debit card in order to pay the registration fee. Once your account is set up, you can link a checking account to avoid processing fees.
Can I get a credit for sick or missed days?
We understand that occasional absences due to illness or other circumstances are sometimes unavoidable. However, in order to maintain the high-quality programming and staffing that our families rely on, we are unable to provide credits for missed or sick days.
