Schools Out Program: What It Is & How to Book

When schools are closed, the fun is in! Our Schools Out Program offers full-day or half-day care at select locations on holidays, professional development days, and early dismissal days—so your child has a safe, fun place to go and you don't have to miss work.

Why It Matters

School closures can be hard to manage for working parents. Whether it's a holiday or an early dismissal, our Schools Out days help bridge the gap so your child is cared for in a familiar, structured environment.

We plan engaging activities, group games, and special crafts to keep the day exciting. It's a mix of fun and supervision that brings peace of mind to families and consistency for kids.

Is It Included in Tuition?

In most locations, Schools Out is not included in your regular Before or After School tuition. It is offered for an additional fee, which will be outlined when booking through your Playground Parent Portal.

Be sure to check your specific location’s Healthy Kids webpage to confirm if your site offers this program and view pricing details.

When Is Schools Out Offered?

We typically offer Schools Out programming on:

• Federal and school holidays (e.g., Columbus Day, Presidents' Day)

• Superintendent or teacher professional development days

• Half days or early dismissal days

How to Book a Schools Out Day

Booking is quick and easy through your Playground Parent Portal:

1. Log into app.tryplayground.com or open the Playground mobile app.

2. Navigate to your child’s schedule.

3. Select the date for the Schools Out day.

4. Submit your request.

5. Pay at the time of booking to secure your child’s spot.

   
   

⏱️ We recommend booking early to guarantee availability.

Subsidy Families:

• Do not use the Playground request feature 

• Instead, email registration@healthykidsprograms.com or call us at 845-330-0200 

• We’ll manually add your schools out date and apply the correct parent share 

Reminders

• A ready-to-eat lunch should be sent with your child.

• Spots are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

• Schools Out is only available to fully registered families.

• No refunds for missed booked days

• Changes or cancellations cannot be guaranteed once care is booked.

• Schools Out programs run extended hours (exact hours vary by location).
